10 – Minutes Window – Veronica Green

Una mostra per ritrovarsi bambini
Ogni artista ha una sua personale idea sull’arte. Per Picasso era una menzogna che ci consente di riconoscere la verità, per Cézanne rappresentava la sola, vera salvezza, per Aristotele era uno strumento di narrazione al pari di una storia.
Per la pittrice Veronica Green, neozelandese con avi italiani che vive e lavora a Venezia, l’arte è una riflessione interiore in cui sentirsi completamente se stessi senza censure, dubbi ed errori.
La sua mostra 10 Minute Window (fino al 5 Giugno – Biennale Spaces – Salizada Streta 96 30122 Venezia ) è composta da 5 opere da ammirare attraverso luci e ambientazioni diverse. L’illuminazione, luminosa o assente, è infatti lo scopo della mostra: la luce riflessa dall’acqua che entra dalle caratteristiche finestre di Venezia oscurate, di notte, dalle famose “veneziane”.
Grazie ad un pigmento fluorescente, i dipinti di Veronica Green sono visibili anche al buio, e aprire e chiudere le finestre ogni 10 minuti diventa, per il pubblico un atto performativo che esprime anche un legame con la città.
Protagonisti dei dipinti sono i bambini, un invito esplicito dell’artista a ritrovare il bambino che è in ogni spettatore, ognuno con le sue speranze, sogni e obiettivi.

An exhibition to find oneself as a child
Every artist has his/her own personal idea about art. For Picasso it was a lie that allows us to recognize the truth, for Cézanne it represented the only, true salvation, for Aristotle it was a narrative tool on par with a story.
For painter Veronica Green, a New Zealander of Italian descent who lives and works in Venice, art is an inner reflection in which to feel completely oneself without censorship, doubts and mistakes.
Her exhibition 10 Minute Window (until June the 5th – Biennale Spaces) consists of 5 works to be admired through different lights and settings. Lighting, bright or absent, is in fact the purpose of the exhibition: the light reflected by the water entering from the characteristic windows of Venice, obscured, at night, by the famous “veneziane.”
Thanks to a fluorescent pigment, Veronica Green’s paintings are visible even in the dark, and opening and closing the windows every 10 minutes becomes, for the audience, a performative act that is also a link with the city.
The protagonists of the paintings are children, an explicit invitation by the artist to find the child that is in every viewer, each with his/her own hopes, dreams and goals.
