We have just returned from a tour that saw us fly from Copenhagen to Florence and then on to Paris, and yet we would leave again without hesitation for Brussels. The Belgian capital is hosting a very interesting exhibition on children’s fashion from the 8th of July: Kidorama – 200 years of children’s fashion.
Mark the address: the Fashion and Lace Museum, which for the first time in 20 years is dedicating an exhibition of this kind to children’s fashion. Up until the 19th century, children’s clothing was generally copied from that of adults, while now the little ones are the protagonists of their own wardrobe and set the trends… what has happened in the meantime is told by the exhibition, through a chronological and thematic path that poses questions and offers answers, also for parents.
We thus discover that the distinction between pink for girls and blue for boys was only born in the 1950s although we think it is rooted in time, or that it was Lanvin and Dior who pioneered the sector.
The names contributing to this initiative range from big brands (Baby Dior, Balmain, Gaultier Junior, Jacquemus, Lanvin, Maison Margiela, Paco Rabanne, Thom Browne) to kid’s excellences (Bonpoint, Caroline Bosmans, Cos I Said So) to newcomers such as the brand Tom & Boy, which we just discovered at Playtime in Paris.
You have time to plan a visit until 5 March 2023! 😉
