La collezione FW20 del brand portoghese Wolf & Rita è una vera e propria lezione d’arte. Le stampe e i colori rimandano ai disegni dell’artista William “Bill” Traylors. Ammettiamo che non conoscevamo i disegni semplici ma di forte impatto di questo lavoratore agricolo e calzolaio che, pensate, iniziò a disegnare quando ormai era un senzatetto di 80 anni. Cani, gatti, conigli ma anche ballerini che popolano come un tableaux vivant i capi di questa stagione.
La collezione si chiama Freedom Blues. Blues è il genere musicale degli Stati Uniti del Sud, da cui proveniva Bill, ma è anche suo il colore più amato. Freedom è quella libertà che l’artista non diede mai per scontata (la ottenne solo nel 1863) e che anche oggi è considerata un sogno da molti.
Ci piace anche ricordare che il 10% del ricavato delle vendite verrà devoluto alla Bill Taylor’s Foundation.

The FW20 collection of the Portuguese brand Wolf & Rita is a real lesson of Art. Prints and colors of their range refer to the drawings of the artist William “Bill” Traylors. We have to admit we didn’t know the simple but striking drawings of this farm labour and shoemaker who started drawing when he was an 80 years old homeless man by then. Dogs, cats, rabbits but also dancer figures who populate this season’s garments like a tableaux vivant.
The collection is called Freedom Blues. Blues is the musical genre of the Southern United States, from which Bill came, but it is also his beloved color. Freedom is something that the artist never took for granted (he only obtained it in 1863) and even today it is considered a dream by many.
We also like to remember that 10% of the proceeds from sales will go to the Bill Taylor’s Foundation.
