Matita Edizioni unveils its 2026 calendar
Independent Publishing, Visual Research and Books That Think (and Play)
There’s something instantly familiar about Matita.
Maybe it’s because, like us, they chose the independent path… the most demanding one, but also the most rewarding. As an independent magazine, we know how much care, patience and stubborn love it takes to build a publishing project today. That’s why seeing Matita grow, step by step, feels a little like cheering for a friend who’s doing things right.
Founded in Venice in 2022 by Delphine Trouillard, Matita Edizioni explores the book as a space for dialogue and experimentation. Each publication is conceived as a fully designed object, where content, form and visual language speak the same playful language.
For the first half of 2026, Matita steps out into the world with three key appointments that perfectly reflect its identity.
First meeting is in Venice with Sens Dessus Dessous / Sottosopra, an exhibition by illustrator Anna Puklus, whose work animates Matita’s fourth volume Sottosopra (published in October 2025).
Hosted, until March 11th, at Galleria Garance & Marion, the exhibition presents twenty-three original engravings that translate the book’s themes into poetic, critical visual narratives. Cities are flipped, perspectives reversed, and urban spaces reimagined through the lens of childhood, architecture and imagination.
The journey continues at TESTO. Come si diventa un libro, the publishing fair curated by Pitti Immagine. Now in its second participation, Matita returns to a space that feels very much like home: a fair dedicated not just to books, but to the editorial process itself, to the people, ideas and invisible work behind every page.
The semester concludes in Paris, at the Festival du Livre de Paris, hosted in 2026 at the iconic Grand Palais. Matita will take part in the jeunes éditeurs section, dedicated to independent publishers and new book languages.
It’s a significant milestone — and one that makes us particularly proud. Seeing a small, thoughtful publishing house bring its vision to an international stage is exactly the kind of success story we love to tell.
