The Chairs Volume Two is an evolving study of kids, colour and one simple recurring prop: the chair. With minimal direction, the children were free to make many of their own choices in front of the camera. That is exactly what makes the story feel so honest. A chair becomes a seat, a frame, a hiding place, something to climb on, move, hold, lean against or completely reinvent.
I find it very interesting to see how children use the same object in so many different ways. The set is clean and simple, but the energy changes from image to image through posture, expression, movement and personality. I also love the styling and the colours: playful, graphic, fresh and full of character. Fashion and design meet here in a very natural way, leaving space for the children to bring the story to life.
