"En Vie", Julien Magre
Jeu de Paume, Château de Tours, June 23rd - October 29th, 2023
The Jeu de Paume is currently putting the spotlight on the talented photographer Julien Magre, who won the prestigious Prix Niépce de Gens d’images in 2022. They’re hosting an exhibition called “En vie” (which means “Alive”), showcasing a stunning collection of 50 prints that document Julien’s everyday life from 1999 all the way to 2020. Behind his trusty camera lens, Julien captured unforgettable family moments: beautiful portraits of his partner during the early days of their relationship, heartwarming photographs of his two daughters, and later on, images of his son, who was the youngest in the family. In addition you will be able to admire never-before-seen works that Julien specially created for this exhibition.
Throughout his work, Julien Magre tenderly captures the passage of time. The glimpses of intimacy he reveals are never ordinary, as he meticulously crafts each photograph to transform the simplicity of everyday life into something extraordinary. “En vie” showcases the incredible power of photography to immortalize each and every moment, creating a deep sense of connection and familiarity. It’s amazing how Julien’s art can make even the simplest things feel universally relatable.
This exhibition is definitely a must-see for all the photography enthusiasts out there!
