Fashion seems to have rediscovered a passion for the distant and Wild West. Whether it’s a reflection of the desire to return to our roots or just an explosion of a passing trend, the streets are filled with ecstatic cowboys who seem to have found a new home in pop culture. Whether it will last is uncertain, but in the meantime, Olivier Rousteing has dedicated the SS24 Kids capsule collection to cowboy core.
High Summer conveys a sense of adventure, of freedom that resonates in an era dominated by technology, where the Balmain child represents the human desire to connect with the authentic, the wild, and the free. However, driven by hype and celebrity influence, the five-pointed Texan star will take center stage in reinterpretations of Maison’s typical silhouettes and be featured all over bermuda shorts, pullovers, and dresses.
While awaiting the next revival, let’s enjoy this homage to the Western landscape, evident also in the choice of palette: alongside the inevitable black & white, pastel colors and deep earthy tones help temper the fluorescent hues seen on the runway.
