Maison Mangostan SS23
text by Enrico Fragale Esposito
Clichés and stereotypes can become a source of inspiration when translated with the clever sarcasm typical of Spanish brand Maison Mangostan. The SS23 collection is fun and ironic, with prints that include elements such as botijos, oranges, peppers, donkeys and geckos as protagonists of the season’s looks, which are combined with striped patterns, checks, flowers and stars.
Primary tones – red, yellow and blue meet pink, green and orange, without forgetting to invite pastels: baby blue, powder, lilac and teal.
Organic cotton is the star of basic garments: sweatshirts, T-shirts, leggings and dresses to be mixed with sandals with rainbow soles, multicoloured woven details, crocheted flowers or trainers with rubber soles and collection prints.
For open-air evenings, burrito print bomber jackets are a must, contrasting with patchwork versions.
Summer calls for relaxed but impactful outfits: that’s why crop tops, Hawaiian shirts, skirts with large volumes and crochet details!
Typical Spanish invites us to discover the traditions and elements that are part of Iberian culture, with an approach full of humour and colour.
