I chose Funky Monkey because it reminds me how much childhood needs space to simply be.

That deep blue is not just a backdrop. It feels like an open sky, like a calm ocean. It creates a clean, quiet space where colors, movement, and laughter can breathe.

Then the toys enter the scene. Colorful slinkies, paper boats, inflatable animals. Simple objects that turn into entire worlds in a child’s hands.

I love this contrast: a strong, minimal background filled with pure imagination and energy.
Because children don’t need complicated settings. They need freedom. And when you give them that, something magical happens.

That’s why I chose this editorial for Scimparello Magazine. Petra Barkhof
