What does it mean to dress like a Belgian kid? According to AO76, it might involve a really good sweater, a pair of baggy trousers, something unexpectedly bright, and enough freedom to run, climb, play and probably get a little bit dirty. We like that answer.
For Fall/Winter 2026, the Belgian brand celebrates a very special birthday: 50 years! And rather than looking backwards, the new collection, Proud to Be Belgian, takes everything the brand has learned over five decades and gives it a fresh, playful spin. Belgian heritage, sporty influences, beautiful fabrics and a very generous dose of colour come together in a wardrobe made for children who have places to go and adventures to invent.
The story begins with Belgium itself. Its eclectic culture, architecture, cycling obsession and unmistakable mix of old and new become inspiration for a collection that never takes fashion too seriously. A traditional shirt gets an oversized attitude, tailoring feels relaxed, knitwear comes with personality, and even the most everyday pieces have a little something going on.
And then there are the colours. Cream, earthy neutrals and soft pastel green create the calm foundation, while bright pink, orange, deep blue and vivid green suddenly pop up like unexpected guests at the party. The result feels warm and cheerful rather than overly polished.
Texture plays an equally important role. Cashmere, brushed yarns, cosy knits and tactile fabrics bring that essential winter softness, while premium cottons keep things easy and wearable. Because, after all, a beautiful outfit is much better when you can actually move in it.
There is also a little celebration hidden in the collection: the 50th Anniversary Sweater, a limited-edition piece marking AO76’s half-century milestone. Consider it the birthday cake of the wardrobe. No candles required.
Perhaps that is what makes AO76’s Proud to Be Belgian collection so appealing. It celebrates heritage without getting stuck in the past, and it embraces quality without sacrificing spontaneity. After 50 years, AO76 seems to have figured out something rather important: children’s fashion should be beautiful, but it should also leave plenty of room for being a kid.
And that sounds like a pretty good Belgian tradition to us.
