City Belongs to Us feels like a real teenage day in the city.
What I liked immediately was its energy: the girls move through the streets, stop at cafés, laugh, drink something, buy flowers, look at each other, look away, get bored, get excited. Nothing feels too posed or too perfect — and that is exactly why it works.
Photographed by Sandra Martinez and Mara Rodriguez, the story captures that moment when teenagers start to take possession of the city in their own way. Every corner becomes a place to meet, to talk, to try on an attitude, to feel independent for a little while.
I chose this editorial because it feels honest, urban and alive — a small portrait of real teenage life, where friendship, fashion and city energy all mix together. (Petra Barkhof)
