I have always been fascinated by illustration in fashion. Lately, I feel it is making a strong comeback in luxury too: Hermès, Loewe, Burberry, Gucci, Prada, Dior and Louis Vuitton are all rediscovering the power of the drawn image. Maybe because, in a world full of perfect images, illustration brings something rarer: a hand, a point of view, a little imaginary world.

That’s why I wanted to give more space to Summer in Patterns, the fashion editorial illustrated by Alejandra Salvatoreand styled by me, already published in the latest swipe-through issue of Scimparello and now also online on the website. (Petra Barkhof)
